Way I see it, trolling is about pushing the boundaries, not going full off the deep end, especially in MMOs. It’s part of the game, screwing around without ever doing something “wrong.” Sure, abuse game mechanics to get people’s virtual avatar killed or stuck. People taking the game too seriously adds to the fun. But things like stealing a person’s account aren’t “trolling” actions. In those cases, maybe trolling is involved, but the core is some other messed up component.
I can see that view…far too many trolls take it too far, though. While not stepping into the illegal territory, I’ve encountered plenty of trolls who delight in picking a random person just trying to have fun and making their game time hell for hours until they either get bored or the player logs out in frustration…possibly to never log in again. None of what they do is against the rules, but it goes beyond the “messing with people” level. It’s a very fine line…I’ve even trolled people myself in my WoW days, but stopped after one or two instances of messing with them. All in good fun and faction rivalry…it’s the people that get a small group together and spend a day or more killing starting questgivers, following around new players and killing off everything they need, etc.
Castor has never been shown to take it too far. He messes with people, but only for one good prank…Epic sometimes when he pulls it to get people breaking the ToS caught, like here or the ERPers. I loved his BG janitor troll, and the fact that he got a whole guild to get in on his pranking for the Christmas event was hilarious…but again, he didn’t overdo it. Castor is the type of troll player I like having around because he keeps things from getting overly serious.
Because it’s not for the good of the game, at least not the game everyone else is playing. What he’s playing is to get the most amusement possible while never actually breaking the rules.
Some is getting his just desserts!
Anyone else grinning from ear to ear from how much he’s doing that /sweat emote?
hey credit where it’s due. he may be an ass, but he is still an RPer and knows when a /sweat would be perfect.
I guess I will have to be harsh and let you go with a stern warning.
Oof.
Castor’s smile makes the whole strip there. He’s a troll, but even he knows there are limits

I am with Vedrana as the alt text here. At least they got the chat logs in.
Was a week ago the mess with Murd being hacked?
15 minutes later. GM: “Oh, hey, there’s a lot of people here. What’s going on?”
Vedrana: “You really are slow.”
After a minutes hesitation (turns deeper green) GM: I’m not slow – just diligent.
Ah, and the other shoe DROPS.
I have to wonder where in Orhan’s dumbass mind was pulling Castor into this any sort of good idea?
Castor is a troll but he’s the kind of troll who does things for mostly the good of the game.
Well except for ruining Christmas for the other faction and crippling a PVP team.

I’m glad Castor is such a good person!
It’s like TOS violations BANanza there!
Anticipation is killing me
