I’m still Theron on it. Used to hang out on guild voice chat regularly, but Discord leaves me so unsettled I only make it on there if I’m required to now.
The first time I used it, I couldn’t figure out my way around the UI, and couldn’t locate any useful help; I figured I’d sort it out later, no problem.
Then I discovered its helpfully stalkerish features like sending me email about chat that took place in my absence. I can see that this is probably a useful feature for a lot of people, but for me it’s something that makes me a deeply paranoid little squirrel who never, ever wants to touch the thing again, and I’ve logged on exactly twice since.
FWIW, that system is just an email subscription list by default, it’s nothing nefarious within the program itself. Click the “Turn off notifications” button at the bottom of the email and it stops.
And since you mentioned the stalkerish features, you can make it stop telling people what games you’re currently tabbed into in the in-app settings.
In one guild, we have 300+ members (rp guild). We hop on discord every single day. Many diff text chats and voice channels. We play things like cards against humanity together, we copy and paste screenshots into general chat, we have roleplay channels.
It’s so easy, and it’s FREE!
So much better than Ventrillo, Teamspeak, and all that jazz.
Then I have another guild I’m in who only use Ventrillo. They have a Discord. It’s mainly used for the music player. Rather empty.
They fight the future, I don’t know why.
Meanwhile my other guild is all, “Go to the music channel for Disney Karaoke night!”
This is exactly why my guild has a dedicated Memes channel, just because we’re a bunch of children who would stink up the main channel with them otherwise.
I’m cracking up – we literally just made the switch from Mumble+Slack to Discord this past week, and it looked pretty much exactly like this (except our Therons actually gquit over it -_-‘)
Strayth is a shit warrior.
Everyone knows this.
Dairn AND Strayth? If it wasn’t fucking freezing this would be a great day.
I can totally see Theron as a crotchety old man
I was literally Theron when my guild swapped to Discord.
The WORST kind of people.

why? Discord works exactly like vent or teamspeak or any other voice chat.
I don’t like change.

Ssh, don’t let anyone know this thing exists! Hopefully, no one from my guild sees this script.
URL checks out. Seems legit.
OMG it does lol
THAT is dedication right there.
It’s a craft, dammit.
Username checks out
Blah, I have a handful of Therons.

Now that is the smart solution to this problem.
<–This guy LOVES Discord. We use it for WoW, Roll20 D&D, Overwatch, Heroes, Diablo, and a bunch of other games. LOVES IT!
