Smooth Sailing
I return from PAX, had a great time. Team Skull was up to no good, but I hear they were chased off with relative ease.
Another $15 slot has opened up on the Experience Boost Patreon, so seize the chance to have you or your character cameo in the comic!
Damn, I’ve just realised its nearly been a year since the whole Dragon King-ing.
I’m assuming they’re fighting the Dragon King, the background looks similar from my memory and ge small bit of skeleton schnozz in view looks the same.
I guess she doesn’t know that Zhsen kicked Theron out on his flask.

Need More Castor Antics!
pleae no
I get her attitude and everything but I feel sorry for Theron, poor fellow can’t catch a break xD
Lys has shown him the true meaning of fear.
Lys has shown him the true meaning of fear.
She’s so badass that just talking about her causes echoes.
When Lys talks, Chuck Norris listens!
How does one sweat on the outside of their helmet? Mysteries of the arcane! ….Also fear. Lots and lots of fear.
Strangely I had the idea Theron is good at the game. He seems more like the butt monkey at the moment. I’m starting to feel sorry for the poor guy.
Ok…being protective of your friends is good, but it is possible to take it too far. If I were in the guild and heard Lys say this, it would actually make me a bit wary of even interacting with Zhusen outside of raids. I’d worry that I might accidentally say/do or not say/do something that would get me painted as a big villain and heap guild drama on top of my head.
Cool down a bit Lys – Zhusen is a big girl. So far she’s shown herself quite capable of dealing with things.
That’s exactly my fear. I’m not about to risk my spot in raids over someone’s hurt feelings.
Note that she IS saying this over whispers, to someone she believe she can trust and who isn’t that much of a butt. It’s not like she is saying this to everyone in general or over chat
Aye, I know it’s whispers and I am not outright condemning her for it, just concerned about where things will go. I hope I’m wrong and that I’m just being overly pessimistic due to some past experiences.
The longer this goes on, the more I sympathize with Theron.
The guy just wants to play his game, but everyone around him is forcing him into a situation he’s clearly not comfortable with.
But why is he not comfortable with it?
Look I like Theron, but literally none of this would be happening if he had just took a second to listen to Zhu informing him of her new means of address, instead of feeling the need to go out of his way to say ‘hey I think your neutral personal life changes are a issue which is poltical and I don’t want to think about it or even hear you briefly tell me what’s up about it”.
Like dude dug his own grave here- and I hope a lightbulb goes off in that Zhusan purposefully did the adult and awesome thing in keeping quiet about how awful he was with that, while still standing up for herself.
Like Theron needs to take a good look at why he is so uncomfortable with a guild mate telling him that their pronouns are changing.
I’m assuming it’s a subset of why he never stepped in when Orhan was waging his campaign against Verdrana- even when a event negatively and horrible impacted a friend, he would rather keep his head down and play the game, staying with people he KNEW were terrible rather than do anything about it- until it was convenient for him.
Believable, but dang dude needs to take some stock about those things.
If he’s not comfortable with it, he’s not end of story. No need to go though hoops and loops here in that Zhusen gets special treatment-she’s no longer comfortable with her previous gender and she’s accepted without a fuss. Theron is not comfortable with discussing it and suddenly he is main villain 101.
As always, the world is full of people who wants to champion the cause that make them sound nice and look nice.
Theron, why you gotta be so believable as the dude who likes to ignore actual stuff happening, anything that might be “potential drama” in the slightest, to play your game?
The more this plot unfolds the more I am fully convinced this is the same section of his personality that did nothing while Verdrana was run out of the guild, and accused of all sorts of stuff, and who only left the guild full of jerks once it was convenient for him. Sigh. Dude needs to grow up- and recognize in this situation HE is the one making drama/making it into a ‘issue’.
Also go Lyss- maybe a little more aggressive than I would be (as a ex-guild leader, I still regret not booting out some jerks earlier who ended up causing some good people to leave because they didn’t feel welcome), but the sentiment is a solid one.
(Said jerks always toed the line and never did anything to cross it up right until the end- but because they continually did subtle stuff like Theron complaining about ‘not wanting to talk about this’, as well as other stuff, me and my co-gm dragged our feet about it and as a result created a environment that was actually hostile to a lot of people.
Then one of them got caught trolling chat with racist stuff and well, time was up.)
I don’t see Theron’s jerky behavior in this case. He simply said he didn’t want to talk about RL things. When he got no flasks he went and asked Zhu about it, was told they either talked about RL things or they weren’t friends, said “ok” and left. He’s not been talking to anyone else about it or or going behind Zhu’s back with complaints or insults.
It’s fun to watch people’s reactions, I think some of them are reflected in people’s past experiences in MMOs. I know for my part when a couple wanted to discuss their divorce with the guild things got very uncomfortable. I’m sure going through events like that has affected my reaction to the strip.
I agree with you.
I am for now the idea that people should have the right to talk about the things that are really important to them.
But I don’t understand why people feel that other people have to listen to them. Theron had said he heard what was happening and didn’t want to talk about it. Not go on a rant. Its Zhu’s right to be who she is and discuss it. But she can’t force the conversation on others if they really don’t want to talk about it.
Even when she cut him off from flasks he simply asked about it, got the reason and then left.
I really honestly don’t understand why some feel he’s such a jerk for not wanting to talk about things he doesn’t want to talk about in his leisure time.
It’s actually because everyone is trying to force him to feel some type of way about something he’s indifferent to that there’s drama. He didn’t tell Zhu they weren’t friends anymore, he didn’t make have a hand in Orhan stealing the old guild. He was minding his own business. And everyone seems to so quickly forget that he stepped out of his comfort zone to warn Vedrana about Orhan being a creep. She disappeared and he had no reason to think that she was coming back so I don’t get why you think he should have feel some obligation to now lose a guild HE HELPED BUILD for a friend who he might never see again. Especially when she didn’t say goodbye. I can understand taking Zhu’s side but come on you can’t ignore half the circumstances to twist it as if he was just a jerk too cowardly to abandon what he had.
Zhu didn’t press the issue when he asked not to discuss it. She later told him she wasn’t really okay with it in the most passive aggressive way and you guys admired that when she had a dozen other ways to approach him. Vedrana left without saying a word to him. Now he’s the bad guy for not jumping to defend someone who’s already gone? It’s this exact retroactive victimhood that makes people not want to deal with other people’s business in the first place.
